OQN 5 - 0 Finchampstead
The ten players worked hard to keep the neat ball-play of the Nomads controlled but tired noticeably as the match wore on and, after the first ten minutes, it was very clear that there was only going to be one winner of this match.
The Nomads' approach work was excellent, with Hawkins particularly well provided and working hard on the left flank, but it wasn't until the 28th minute that Michael Sackey crept in at the near-post to flick the ball home to give the home side the lead.
With Finchampstead defending solidly, the only other clear-cut chance of the half came right on the whistle as Lance Shaw was clear through but hesitated just long enough for a defender to get in a tackle.
HALF-TIME OQN 1-0 FINCHAMPSTEAD
From the start of the second period Nomads stepped up a gear and so totally dominated the play that the visitors had neither a shot on goal nor a corner.
The lead was doubled after 47 minutes when Leon Kufojiji found himself in space and finished strongly.
Kamberi and Hawkins were combining well on the left and producing plenty of telling crosses, but which just lacked a finishing touch.
The lead was stretched after 63 miutes when Aaron Hall picked up a loose pass just outside the visitor's area and, after taking the ball on a few strides, made no mistake with his finishing.
Two minutes later and Dean Kufojiji made it four when he headed home from close in after the keeper had failed to hold the ball from a corner.
Finchampstead kept at the task in hand but found the pace of the Nomads players difficult to deal with and misplaced too many passes to put much serious pressure on the Nomads defence which looked very assured with Meade, Masawi and Lewis all looking very comfortable.
The final goal came with three minutes left when Steele did well to hold off several strong challenges before poking the ball home.
FULL TIME: OQN 5-0 FINCHAMPSTEAD
Nomads: Soloman, D. Kufojiji, Lewis, Meade, Masawi, Hall, L. Kufojiji, Sackey, Shaw (Steele 61), Kamberi (Hepburn 64), Hawkins.
The young Nomads side played some eye-catching football and would, I'm sure have caused many problems to an eleven man team. As they grow in strength and experience this has the makings of a terrific side ... let's hope they stay together!!And I trust Scott Bursill's injury is not too serious.
